Caught you, [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11 :D But I had to work for it! Love having Rhapsy as a writing buddy... tonight we're neck and neck, tomorrow she'll pass me again. It's also wonderful doing NaNo with her because she's having so much fun with her characters and it keeps me inspired. It's very cool that just short of the 40k mark, I'm chasing someone who originally planned a half NaNo - 25k. There's a special magic in a story that just keeps growing.

BB2 has a beginning, a middle, and I can see the end but it'll need at least another 10k beyond the required 50. Needs lots and lots of editing for grammar and phrasing, cutting out the repetitions (one of my bad habits is saying the same thing in three different ways), taming dialogue that wanders off and has nothing to do with anything, and the rest of the joy that comes with a first draft. I always write a dirty first draft, so I know exactly what to expect - the usual horror, just way more of it *g*.

Everything's here that should be, and since I delete missteps and false starts as they happen, nothing's here that shouldn't be, except for a section that desperately needs a third character for balance. There's no time to go back and adjust scene after scene and write in dialogue and planning, so I stuck in track changes comments and it can wait till I edit. It won't change the content, just make it hold together better - an expansion, not a rewrite.

There's a chance Glorfindel may never forgive me for a certain little plot twist.

Not reading through the draft till it's done seems a good idea. I think it could end up being a bit confusing. I'm not looking forward to editing much, but crappy words can become good words - it just takes time, energy and lots of tea *g*.
