Yes, yes, I've been quiet about this. No excuses - we had family staying with us, there were other issues, but even so, main reason for the end result had to do with not forcibly carving out the time as I did before. Thanks to my cheerleaders for adding to the fun (yes it is fun, even if it hurts and even if you fail horribly) and thanks to Red for prodding me along the road.

My final NaNo count:
24069 / 50000
(48.14%)
Sort of half a NaNo? Like running a half marathon instead of the real thing?

Ah well, that's still 24K of Burning Bright 2 that wasn't here in October. I'll push it up to a full 25K today and then keep adding to it this month but right now it's forward with the Big Bang again. That's going to be a change of pace :D

I'm still very impressed by your word count and even attempting NaNo is worth celebrating. Don't cut yourself down too much, you're still way ahead of where you were on November 1st.

Thank you :) I think I might have got further if it hadn't been a sequel, but I spent more time thinking about what I was doing. Still, the story's had a good start and I guess that's the main thing.

I did Nano one time and I finished it but I thought it would kill me... I wrote and wrote and wrote! I even got a boil on my bum from sitting too much!

I decided to stick with Big Bangs!

Last time I tried I finished, I've even edited and posted the story, but I couldn't face writing for about two months after. I even struggled to answer emails, lol. It seemed like a good way to get the sequel written - same style and pace - but truthfully I'm looking forward to getting back to my Big Bang full time.

There you go, you're 24K ahead of where you were. :) I think it takes plenty of guts to even go for it myself.

*hugs*

Not so sure about guts, more like rose coloured glasses *g*. Thanks for the encouragement, and you're right - at least I got a good way into the story, far enough to discover complications I hadn't dreamed of, LOL.

*hugs*

But hooray for 24k you didn't have before! I know it's no fun to fall short of a goal, but still. *throws confetti*

I'm torn right now, because while I want to write in theory (the fic ideas I ignored all November are now eating my brain alive), thinking about actually doing it gives me a twitch over my left eye.

Thank you :)

Oh I do know that feeling. Doing something new would be great, but the business of putting whole sentences together hurts!! It'll pass, lol. Make notes, write in February? Better yet, write in January -- http://slashy-santa.livejournal.com/66463.html

Whole sentences are not my friend right now. =D

Oo, I keep seeing links to that. ♥ I keep poking at the page, too, but (even if my fic-confidence wasn't dipping into the negative numbers right now) my skill at writing to request is shaky, at best. I'm so keeping an eye on the comm to read what comes out of it, though.

Have you been on the website yet? There's masses to read up there, it's been going since 2004.

Don't be hasty, you have almost two weeks to talk yourself into it *bright smile*. 2500 - 3000 words isn't too bad, and Red would be gentle, you being a new player and all (this is all about misery loving company, LOL)

Iiiii just spent far too long at the website, reading. Ha.

Talk myself into it or talk myself out of it? At this point I'm not sure which I'm trying to do. =D

LOL. Having other people who understand the flail is always a good thing.

I do promise to be gentle, I don't bite. *G* We're always looking for new writers. Like Kei said, I would definitely check out the Slashy Santa website (http://www.slashysanta.com/eFiction/).

It has a bunch of really great stories. Never know, could be inspiring. :)

I think another 24k of Burning Bright is extremely good news--no matter what word count NaNo specifies!

Thanks - it had a good start at least. There was enough time for ideas that had no place in the outline to wander in and for me to know I dread writing the next section *g*.

It's my job in life, you know, to poke you with a stick. And I need more of BB in my life, can't remember the last LOTR story I enjoyed that much. I'm looking forward to the Big Bang fic too, I just have no idea what I am going to do about art for it, yet, lol.

I forgot how damn cute that mood theme is!

I'm proud of myself, I remembered the mood theme right at the start of December instead of a week before the end :D

Big Bang -- when the story has gone far enough, you'll get ideas. Right now it's all over the place. Have faith in the artistic skills over that side :)
