Like to say thank you very much to Jane (phyncke) for proofreading and offering some very helpful suggestions on the piece I submitted last month to the national short story competition -- I mentioned it a few weeks back? Husband made me do it? Really never expected it to get anywhere, specially as it's ages since I've written OFic, so when I found I was in the final 25 I was really thrilled. Top 10 was exciting and was way more than I expected, but today they posted the final results and my story received 3rd place. I can't quite take this in, lol.

I get a professional critique of my story, which should be pretty educational, and the top three get to be published on the site and in their newsletter. First place though got a rather nice laptop. The winner really deserved it, too.

I read the concrit on that web site there. Very well done and so organized. I like the rating system and all that. It showed just where you did well etc. Your story had solid marks in all the categories, I thought.

I liked how they set it out, yes. They're very professional. Liked that the judges all seem to be published authors, too. I'm really curious to see what the detailed concrit looks like - apparently they'll mail that to me some time next week.
