Oh man, an update!

So far since mid August I have moved house, got bad flu, got better for a week, got a stomach bug that was so disgustingly bad.... wrote my reverse bang fic (in two parts because of being ill twice and having no art (still no art) amongst other reasons) and now I find I haven't updated my wip in three months. THREE MONTHS. This is where you resign yourself to 'no readers left' and get on with it, yes? I got a stunning review on it yesterday though, so I'm feeling a little energised.
New home is very nice, except night before last I was on the bed with the laptop and noticed water dripping from the light (!!!) above my head. This was around 2 am. Had to get the complex's handyman out to go up into the roof and switch off the water till the plumber could come in the morning. Was having coffee at 3 and the plumber arrived at 8 - R was walking like a zombie, I'm more used to the no sleep thing. Ceiling is cracking, they can't sort it out till it dries. Or collapses onto the bed. The downside of living upstairs, I suppose.
We're still settling in. Downsizing is an experience, and not in a good way, but we're quite happy here so far. Long may it last.
Summer is coming (more ominous these days than 'winter is coming'). Weather is quite reasonable atm (low 20s C) and the wind is blowing, as is right and proper in spring. But they are threatening us with 35C on Monday. Do. Not. Want.
Granddaughter is gorgeous and a proper human person with a nice sense of humour. And tiny, everyone says she's so tiny.

Date: 2018-10-20 18:32 (UTC)That stomach bug was bad.... I had it as well and so did hubby. True to form, it was harder on hubby. Moms really never can take a break huh?
I hope the summer nights will give you the time to do reading of the book I sent you. I caved and bought a gorgeous hardcopy this week...
And lurv, you will always have readers with your star quality of storytelling. Much love from me!

Date: 2018-10-24 02:26 (UTC)That stomach bug was the weirdest thing. Grandbaby picked it up from somewhere and passed it to Michelle, who called me and asked me to please come help, she couldn't cope (which is so absolutely out of character that I knew she felt like she was dying). And of course I got it right away. But my son-in-law didn't, and Ray didn't, even though they were both exposed to it. We decided it must be an anti-woman virus.
I want to give that gorgeous book a second, thorough read, just need a night when it's a little cooler --- summer started off with a bang, at 37C on Monday, 35C on Tuesday....
I hope everything is going well over there for all of you.
*loves*

Date: 2018-10-21 13:13 (UTC)No, I guarantee you still have readers. Three months is not an outrageously long time between updates (though it sometimes feels like it when it seems current fandom acts like you should be posting something new every week).
Holy cow! I hope the ceiling/water problem is easily fixed. I'm honestly surprised your light didn't short out and very glad it didn't.
Ugh. I hope your spring stays spring-like for an appropriate amount of time.

Date: 2018-10-24 02:44 (UTC)There is all that stuff on Tumblr about having to update within two weeks and people demanding new chapters after a week, I think it's getting to me. Still, three months does feel like a stretch this time - I guess what I need to do is stop wringing my hands and write?
Summer arrived and is horrible --- 37.8C (just over 100F) is not a good way to start! Apparently it's the highest temperature ever recorded here for October. No climate change, noooo.

Ugh! That is not a good thing. I had summer temps until the middle of October. When I first moved here, public pools and such closed after the first weekend in September because the weather reliably cooled down in September. Not anymore…
