Snowflake 2018
Jan. 1st, 2018 23:19Day 1:
In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year?
Ummm, I do it because it's there? No really, even the time I wasn't going to take part in Snowflake, I still did in the end. It's such a good way to start the year, because instead of harping on the negative parts of fandom - and everything has its downside, like where are the comments and how do I get noticed on Tumblr (lol) - it focuses on the positive and brings out the best in people. We sometimes forget how affirming and nurturing our extended community can be, and it's a reminder of that and of all the amazing talent within the fanfiction world. Even if I only do half the challenges, I go into the year aware that I'm a part of something bigger, and it makes me want to read more, write more, participate more. And that can only be a good thing, right?
