Day 1
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Last time I picked milestones or fics I learned from, this time I'm going for the 'first tries', all from this year --- though Brothers is stretching things a little as it was written at the end of the previous year. The other thing they have in common is they were all written for fic swaps, so I guess they're quite useful for getting a writer to stretch.
Windborne -- child-Elwing has shown up a few times but this was Elwing as an adult and from her pov. It was a strange experience, like meeting someone I'd been trying to get to know for ages. I think the story was already there, it just needed to be written down. I say 'written with love' in the header notes, and it really was.
Brothers -- With the exception of Maglor, I don't write Feanorians, but with this I got to see him and Maedhros when the two of them were all that were left. As firsts go - siblings, a character I've never written, a moment in Silm history I never thought I'd approach.
Like a Shooting Star, Leaping Skywards -My first femslash. I'm not a first age writer, and this showed me how few girls there were around. I never was one to pair people up just because, but I found an OFC I really liked, met Meril who I think is a pretty special person (if the fic could have run for 30K as it wanted, I'd have got the full backstory....) and managed to get Gil-galad (very young) in the frame as well.
