Snowflake Challenge: 9 and 10
Jan. 11th, 2014 03:37Day 9:
In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving.
I found this incredibly difficult. I've read some really strange and unlikely things, my rule being that if I get past the first two pages, I may as well finish it. There are a few characters and situations I don't bother with, which means I've probably missed several titles that could go on here.
Two I will never find again, because my desktop crashed and burned and took the links with it. One was Bible slash, featuring God and Lucifer which I thought might be a few bridges too far. Their dynamic was a bit like a serious E/G fic and it was a lovely but bittersweet story. Yes, it was - don't judge me! The other was proof that you should occasionally try things that make your nerves itch. It was a MEFA nominee (never placed), and I glanced in because something in the summary intrigued me .... it was Merry and Pippin, slashed, and was a really special romance with some incredible imagry. I wish I could find it to read again.
I can only offer one link, my introduction to Bible slash. I thought, no, why would I read this??? Eww. But it was Talullah, and I would always take a chance on Talullah (It's been years and I still miss that woman's writing SO MUCH - any fandom, any genre! One day when I grow up, I want to write like her.) The fic is The Covenant by Talullah Red. It features David and Jonathan. Highly recommended!
Day 10:
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
Heh, I'm not sure about asking for presents ---- but if I was going to, it would be the obvious: story illustrations, icons based on my fics, an Avengers fic - Steve/Thor with Clint/Natasha as a secondary couple (before the next movie comes out and breaks that), some angst, some humour - or a good, solid Erestor/Glorfindel (same kind of mix).
There ya go. I don't want much *g*.
Wow, I'm all caught up (well except for the emails, yes).

Date: 2014-01-12 16:43 (UTC)Would you like some story banners from my photos? You probably know by now that I'm only doing them based on my own pics or on public domain images, and I'm also not very adept at more than choosing a nice cut of a picture and placing text on it in a hopefully pleasing way. But if that is to your liking, I'd be happy to create anything.

Date: 2014-01-16 22:37 (UTC)(have a bet with myself that the formatting won't work - let's see *g*)
ETA: and it worked fine of course - first time in ages. Thing I should have mentioned is Future Dreams is a three part fic, while the other two are fairly short.

Date: 2014-01-17 11:45 (UTC)Which format would you like? Can be several for different uses, that is easily done.

Date: 2014-01-18 00:57 (UTC)As for format -- well, I'd like something that would work on AO3, if that's any help?
*hugs*

Date: 2014-01-18 01:34 (UTC)I haven't a clue about size on AO3, but tomorrow I can ask Red - she did my Big Bang art and loaded it on there so should have an idea.
