Lj is really messing with me tonight, posts keep vanishing off my f-page. I hope it doesn't do the same to the comment replies that I'm about to try leaving. When did this kind of nonsense become almost normal? I wouldn't dream of wasting my time reporting it, which i would have been all over a few years ago.

Mine seems to be fine at the moment - but last time I reported a problem they got back to me within an hour and came up with a fix for it - so reporting is still worthwhile.

Mind you any difficulties are probably caused by the American government reading everything on your journal, and every comment you make as you, like me, are apparently considered fair game, not being American citizens protected by their privacy laws! (Has that been news in SA, too, or are you wondering what the weird wombat is talking about?)

That happened to me a while back. Really annoying :-(

Soooo, maybe the posts had potential terrorist links or were by people with names that at first glance looked a teeny bit like names of people who might conceivably have some kind of nefarious connection? Oh, that explains everything. (that would seem to include you, btw, as your post has also gone :D )

It's sort of weird - we struggled so long for things like freedom of speech and the right to privacy, and America was the example everyone held up --- and now you discover they don't think there's a problem with monitoring their citizens' email correspondence - all of it. World's a strange place.

I'm watching posts appear and vanish within five minutes. Makes me wonder how many posts disappear on the nights I think my f-list is unusually quiet. Hate that it's become so unreliable.

Ah - but the best of it is that, as they have laws to protect the privacy of American citizens, they are actually concentrating on reading everything the rest of us do that is handled by servers in the US, rather than their own citizens... And so, unless LJ moves its servers out of the US, it is probably all that snooping and copying that is slowing things down :)

And here everyone was blaming LJ's woes on Russian politics and their government trying to silence dissidents. America makes much more sense!

But then, some of the magical disappearing-then-reappearing posts on my f-list today have been by another American. A cover-up perhaps, to throw everyone off the scent? ;)

But yeah, in many ways this country is no longer the beacon of freedom it apparently was at its founding. I think most of the Western world has caught up with and surpassed us.

Does the same with me. No response from LJ. Really irritating...

Mine seems to be okay and I got an email for your comment, so that's working.

I can't tell you how hard I want to kick not only our president, but all the other idiots, in a very sensitive place for the whole drone thing (which they are using on us as well), and this ....&*%^#@@#$ reading messages and IMs and all that thing.

That's nothing new, you know. They've been doing this for years. It just got leaked and now they have to admit it.

Ugh. I really think we need to send all politicians and lawyers (with a few exceptions) to Mars. Sorry, Mars. ;)

I wasn't sure about answering comments but then I decided to go ahead and save the replies in case I had to rinse and repeat. So annoying.

I see the news on Al Jazeera. We have a big Muslim community, and I listen to people around me talk. I tend to keep my political views out of this blog, but I firmly believe you cannot fight terrorism by sowing hatred, it does not compute. I don't understand why they can't get that.

And death by remote control is obscene.
