Who I Am

This was my evening of quiet introspection and here are the results.
Some one on my flist - lotrfan_angel17 to be exact - posted a really interesting survey which provided a lot of information about herself, which I enjoyed because I now feel I am starting to get to know her. The chances of me doing the same are small. I am private to the point of paranoia online. However, for what it's worth, if anyone's interested, if anyone's ever wondered, here are a few basic things about myself.

*I am short and blonde and have blue eyes. This has forced me to be independent and capable, because if I were not no-one would ever take me seriously.

*I hate lies! I don't mind if you don't tell me things, that is your right, just do NOT lie to me. I will find out. It will be a long time before I forgive you.

*I question things. Possibly not to people's faces because I don't choose to be hurtful, but I take very little on trust, I like to investigate an idea for myself.

*I am practical and logical and reserve the right to be neither of those should I so choose. Everyone is entitled to the occasional tantrum.

*I am friendly with a lot of people, but I only have a few close friends. You threaten or hurt one of my close friends at your peril. In the event of that happening, I'm afraid I will not be interested in your side of the story.

*I am not stupid, I just pick my battlefields. Many times things happen and I decide they are not worth disturbing my peace of mind for. It isn't that I didn't notice it or understand it, I just chose to let it go.

*I believe in loyalty, I believe in friendship, I believe that a friend will drop everything else if you are in need, no matter how pathetic the need may seem. I am often disappointed. The times when I am not are glorious.

*I am an initiated Wiccan priestess, with a strong interest in the Druid's way. I am currently a solitary practitioner, having developed an aversion to coven politics.

*My training has taught me that there is not much place in the universe for power trips or egos.

*I believe that kindness is non-negotiable, that courtesy is a basic requirement of human decency, and that life is too short for resentments and grudges.

I was in two minds about mentioning that, but this post was all about my attitudes and the concepts I feel strongly about, and the Path has defined the way I look at a lot of things so I let it be.

I don't know what to say to that sweetie - lol.
Moving up through the hierarchy within a coven isn't for most people and I usually advise against it when asked.
I firmly believe that everyone has to follow the path that calls them , but if you'd like to talk generally about Wicca, IM me sometime, I'd enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing part of your life. I enjoyed reading about you too.

This probably sounds silly but when I read you were blond and had blue eyes it surprised me because for some reason I thought you would have brown hair like your icon. Preconceived notions I guess. It's kind of like meeting someone you talk to on the phone a lot and finding out they look nothing like you thought. It's nice to be surprised like that.

I liked your last statement the most about kindness and courtesy. Sometimes it's hard to find both but I'm finding a lot of it here on lj and I like it. Thanks again for taking the time to read and comment on my journal :)

I need to thank you for giving me the idea for this entry.

Up till recently I used a Haldir icon, so at least the hair colour was close - lol. Though, to be honest, I wouldn't mind being tall, skinny, with long, dark hair and glittery wings....

I enjoy visiting your journal :) I agree, also, with your comments about lj, at least in this corner of it. Most people here are both friendly and welcoming.

Thank you for the insight into who you are. I definately understand any trepidation; people are both funny and strange, and not always trustworthy. Too many scammers out there.
But anyways, you sound like a wonderful person. Of course, just based on the way you write, I kinda figured that already. *grin* And a wicca priestess too; that's really cool. I've done some studying of the wiccan religion myself.(I tend to be pretty flighty, so while I've done alot of reading and whatnot, my attention gets quite distracted and I spiritually come and go. I really need to work on that, I suppose. *smile*)

When I read that you´re a wiccan priestess I was really in awe... I´m interested in many spiritual paths and wicca is one of them but I never was a member of a coven (maybe because here around isn´t one or because I never was interested to join one, I like to be independent and I have big issues with hierarchy). But thanks the powers I do have some friends on a spiritual path too and we can talk with each other and I´m feeling not soo alone with my opinions.. But we all have to be careful with others around, many people are very intolerant against - what they feel as threatening ideas - and at my work there are some people who think they have found the truth and are not really open for others and their way. But those things only make me stronger...

Having friends to share ideas with is a wonderful gift. I believe the only real truth is the one that resonates in your heart, and that there are different truths for different people even within a particular faith. However I've found it's important to not try and force people to deal with ideas that make them afraid or uncomfortable. There are times when discretion is a very good thing indeed - lol!
