Snowflake Challenge 11
Jan. 11th, 2015 16:30I've just written my first femslash story so I figured that covered Day 10 and skipped it.

Day 11
In your own space, post a rec for fannish and/or creative resources. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it.
All Tolkien:
The Thain's Book is my default 'go to' quick look up. No Years of the Trees, but for everything else it is very thorough --- maps, extra details, comprehensively referenced, names explained... they even have a good Numenor section.
Next choice for general information is Wiki's Middle-earth Portal (you wouldn't expect it, but it's pretty comprehensive, just be alert because occasionally Wiki = personal agendas)
And the SWG's Character of the Month biographies are an excellent resource for detailed, trustworthy, character-based material.
Tolkien Gateway is nice if you also want fan art for inspiration.
ALSO: Travel times in Middle-earth, with useful notes on horses and travelling with wagons. I love this to pieces! How long should it take to get from Bree to Rivendell? Or Edoras to Minas Tirith? Here you go....! Yes it's LotR based, but you can apply it to any areas with similar distances and topography. I lost it for a while and was so thrilled when I found it again.
