Tree 2018

As per tradition, here is my annual Christmas tree post. Tree 2018 is one of a kind: small, cute, bushy, and strong enough to qualify as the first tree ever to carry the big red and gold star on top. How he does it, I'm not sure.

He shouldn't be here. I said that new apartment also meant the end of fresh trees and it was time to buy a decent artificial one. R was very, very, very reluctant but finally, a few days back, decided I was probably right, fresh would be too much trouble now we're upstairs, and okay we would go to Game and see what we could find. What we found was a major bargain on a white tree - they were out of green in the one. The bargain was too big, to where it bothered me (what was wrong with the tree?) and after a standup row in Game, we threw it back on the shelf and left...... and ended up buying Fresh Tree on the way home. We found it waiting as if sent and it is a pretty sight even in the day without the lights on. We shall see how things work when he has to chop it into 1 meter lengths so the garbage guys will take it away.

We are going to R's niece and her husband for lunch. First year in their new house, wants to do the whole family dinner thing. I just have to show up with icecream. I think I have such trouble believing it's Christmas because I am not charging round the kitchen doing Stuff With Meat. She sent me pictures - she has decorated beautifully and tastefully and it all looks like the set of a House and Home photoshoot (not surprising). However there might be huge drama at some point between her and her parents (also invited) so I am rather crossing my fingers and hoping for some very localised peace and goodwill (my brother-in-law can be an asshole).

Usually I finish these posts off with writing updates. Well, I got the TSS in on the day (that was a messy experience). Really like the little e/g I wrote - a nice change after the stress and drama that was the Reverse Bang. No sight of my gift so far, but then I'm 7 hours ahead of the U.S. so I did rather expect to only see it tomorrow. I assume I will get something - never heard a word out of my secret santa. Only have it on trust that I do have such a person. There was no lotr_community Yule exchange this year - apparently mod issues. I am really sorry, it's a small exchange but each one that vanishes shrinks the older side of the fandom down a little more. Waiting on a chapter of Flamingo that Red didn't rush because I had to get the TSS done first. On the final stretch now, only one more chapter after this (yes, I've been stalled forever, don't remind me). Should only take me another two years :\

I also never heard from my person, but received a gift a couple of hours ago (albeit the first of twelve parts, so who knows if the rest will be up when the person says they will). I hope yours shows up!
