Title: The Pink Flamingo
Chapter: 6/?
Featuring: Erestor/Glorfindel, Elrond, various OCs
Rating (if you worry about such things): currently pg-13. Later, who knows?
Beta: as ever, Red Lasbelin.
Summary: Glorfindel's posting to Imladris should have been straightforward, a way for him to integrate into life in the Second Age while giving Elrond some much-needed assistance. None of that took into account the proprietor of the local house of ill repute, or the presence of a suspected arsonist.

You already know I really like this chapter, but I can repeat it again. Really liked the description of the fire itself, and the efforts to put it out. This is the stuff you do well and I am sometimes envious of the skill. I really liked Glorfindel's struggle with the fire, it makes sense he'd struggle with a kind of PTSD with it. That Erestor recognized it and was able to deal with it efficiently speaks of a kind to his own experience - how many soldiers has he helped in his line of work? (Not with their own death memories, of course, but still...) And that the children were safe and reunited with their mother, I like that kind of detail.

Special mention: Elen and Beridhren, Elrond's voice here, which is quite good, and your Burning Bright cameo.

I like that Glorfindel and Erestor are meeting and they both hold a secret of each other's - and it's the beginning of trust. And of course, Glorfindel would be the guy concerned about girls being shaken by the neck...this Denesion character sounds like trouble.

Sorry it's not longer - see, I gave it all away in beta comments. I should be more inscrutable then. :D But I do think it's a very good chapter and you did a fantastic job on it.

*hugs*

Yays! So glad to see a chapter. I totally get why Glorfindel froze in the fire and was glad that Erestor was there to snap him out of it. That kind of trauma would be triggered in that way. That seemed very real to me.

Lots of connections made in this chapter and the mystery gets curiouser. Good thing no one was hurt in the fire but in the way of an arsonist - the person is escalating and getting bolder. I have watched enough detective programs to know that.

Very interesting chapter and I like that Erestor and Glorfindel are helping each other. When are they going to snog? Time for a kiss! :P

I don't at all think I can write this sort of thing, I go into a flat panic when I have to and mentally run around like a chicken with its head chopped off before I dive in. I'm not sure I'm giving enough of Erestor's personality, at least not in a deliberate, story-content kind of way, but yes, he knew what he was seeing and knows how to talk to men dealing with private nightmares. A kind of PTSD, yes, though not of the overwhelming variety - I'm pretty sure the Valar wouldn't have sent him back if they thought he couldn't cope or anything along those lines, but close proximity to fire is always going to be difficult for him.

The Burning Bright thing - I couldn't not mention it :D And I'm not finding enough space for Elen and Beridhren and I really want to, they're good people.

I was a bit intimidated by this chapter, in its way it was as challenging as last chapter's brothel scene. You are lucky, you're spared a lot of the desperate whining this time round, lol.

It took a while before I saw that Glorfindel would almost certainly find being close to a major fire triggering, and I'm glad you felt the way it was written seemed real *hugs* Thank you :) It is all escalating, yes - I have no idea if we'll get to the end with no deaths because this fic just goes where it goes, but I hope so.

I'm not sure Glorfindel is quite ready to think about snogging Erestor for real. We shall see :D Good choice of userpic there!
