New friends page - ARE THEY INSANE?
Oh, silly me. This is LJ. Seriously, what is their point??

I haven't switched yet, I'm too supicious! What's it like?

Take a peek. You can switch back :(

I kind of hate it. It's too hard on my eyes. -_- I'm not usually one to complain about LJ's changes, but this one is an immediate WTF NO for me. If I wanted to be on Tumblr, I would be on Tumblr.

It's not very pretty to look at and I don't like the formatting. I want to read friends posts in the skin that I've chosen not some white bread idea of commonality and banality. Ick!

Is it possible not to switch?

Proving, once again, that change is not always a good thing. *shakes head*

I haven't looked - guess I'll have to, eventually....

My thoughts exactly. It's horrendous, isn't it. What's the point of being able to choose your own skin if you have to view your friends page on that horror? I could hardly focus on it.

It is horrible! Why are they doing this? At the very least, we should have a choice!

Uh oh, I haven't seen any announcement. But after your feedback, I'll stay clear for now. Thanks for the warning!

They hate us. They are doing everything in their power to piss us off. *Grumps*

LJ have such a cavalier disregard for their users. I have said my bit over at the comments page along with the other 468 commentors. I bet the number is much more than that now.

Oh gross! I cannot deal with that eternally loading feed thing or whatever it's called; that is hell on netbooks, and a netbook is my sole computer. It makes my screen forever freeze up while I'm trying to scroll because it's thinking about loading stuff I haven't even scrolled down to yet..

(Never mind the sheer aesthetic horror...I do not do black text on while background. I have all of my LJ and Windows settings for lavender or other pale colors on black background and wish to keep it that way thank you very much..)

Looks like many people are already registering their complaints on LJ releases. (http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/79480.html#comments) I suppose it's too much to hope that they'll listen to requests for an opt-out option, but I plan to comment there anyway.

It's too wide, I have to track it across the screen, there are no tags and no links, and it's white. How many ways can I say I hate it?

There are pages and pages and pages of angry comments on lj news and lj release and I'm not sure they'll even care.

Urgh, all of that. It's harder to read, not easier. Customisation is one of the things I really cling to on LJ.

I'm afraid that if this is a mandatory thing then even more people will leave LJ, and this is one of the only remaining social sites that properly allows for discussion.

It's still in beta so you can take a look and switch back, but unless the outrage finally makes them stop and think, eventually they'll implement it.

And then I will be spending waaaay more time on Dreamwidth.

Change for the sake of change (or because ONTD) will like it is never a good thing. And this one truly sucks!

I cannot find a single thing I like about it. I've known I'll adapt to most of their 'improvements', but this is a bridge too far. You'd swear they were recruiting for Dreamwidth.

From: [identity profile] keiliss.livejournal.com
Because the people over at ONTD will like it? (maybe) Because they don't want our money any more? Because they're very interested in creating a site to make the developers, not the users, happy? Because they want us all to move to Dreamwidth? It makes no sense.

From: [identity profile] keiliss.livejournal.com
They were talking about it behind the scenes, but only did the news announcement after the event, which shows how much respect they have for their users.

They want us fannish types all to go away so they can focus on the big, commercially attractive communities? Honestly, it's how it feels. The whole attitude is just so arrogant.

Been there, done that. It's close to 700 now and I didn't see a single favourable comment. Not that they'll care, right?

I've commented and I looked through pages and pages on lj releases and lj news and haven't found one person who likes it (though I have found some interesting speculation on management's motives) I use my netbook a lot, and it does not do that continuous scroll thing well. Also I don't have the greatest internet connection, and it's not happy. Also no tags, no links, scrolling across to get the full page, and WHITE. I swear it is the whitest page I've seen.

And the final insult is that I have a paid account. I paid for this!!!

I think you need to have the navigation bar enabled for the link to show up (it's a strip across the top of the page for me) Possibly there's something on your profile page or inbox instead?

I can see more and more people spending time on Dreamwidth. I need to go revamp my layout. Haven't been over there for weeks.

Ah! I hate the navigation bar, so I don't have it. I guess I'll see it if they make it mandatory.

I saw the link in my profile one day, I remember, but now it's gone.

I added my negative to their comments this afternoon. I really don't like their new skin at all.

Did you do the poll that the first comment offered? My reasons for wanting to stay with the old version were quite plainly put forth there and you could choose one or more than one reason in a section.

It was a good poll and it gave people a place to express their unhappiness. Pity LJ management isn't likely to see it. I don't think I've ever seen such a unanimous reaction to a LJ change. People are really unhappy with this.

Well, that poll and the number of comments should mean something.

I did so much work on my theme's style, to make it exactly as I like it, and now this?

just checked my dreamwidth account. Problem is, it takes time for people to switch, and there are all the communities here....
The new Tomies come to mind first.:-)

I hope they do take notice of the users' opinions.
