Okay, let's see how this posts.

I am going on diet. Well not specifically on diet, just taking a great deal of care about what I eat, cutting back on sugar and fats and so on. I had to buy a new bra and there was this cubicle with very good lighting and a three way mirror and I saw myself from angles that we were not intended to contemplate ourselves from. Nuff said.

My husband trimmed my hair. He's still alive, so I guess it turned out all right. Just needed it tidied up all round and was not prepared to pay R150 for ten minutes work. The job's his till I need a change of style.

After a period of deep loathing I'm starting to connect to the Big Bang story. The first part is some of the worst writing I've done, including my teenage sci fi soap opera efforts, because it had no voice for me. Liked the idea, would have been happy to read it, wanted someone else to write it. It's starting to come alive now. It's as well we've been given an extension, I'll need the extra time with it. Not saying I love it and can't wait to get to it each day (hahahahaha), but I'm no longer hiding behind endless rounds of Mah Jongg, my first choice in procrastination.

No, the word count hasn't grown much. It's been one of those weekends. Still --- trying.

I'd like to thank people for my MEFA nominations --- Dreamflower for submitting Season of Hope (love this one, always love writing Gil), Ellynn for choosing The Well, and Elfscribe for nominating both Life After and Burning Bright. I'm doing final edits on BB and posting it on the SWG. have three chapters left to get up by the end of the month or it'll run as a WIP, which I really don't want --- good incentive for editing.

And yes, I've heard people say 'the same people win every time' but I think there's no point in saying that if you're not prepared to try and change things by voting for the kinds of story you enjoy. If it weren't for the efforts of people like Oshun, slash would still be a dark outsider at the MEFAs.

Don't think I'll be signing up for Ardor in August. I'll be working on the Big Bang till the end of July, and then I need to get back to Burning Bright. Skip this one and do Slashy Valentine instead. Pity there's not a Christmas swap - still miss that. Anyhow, if anyone needs a beta or just a second pair of eyes, I'll be uninvolved and available.

Might do NaNo this year though. I have an unlikely bunny that refuses to let go.

That banner is gorgeous. What is that picture? It reminds me of a native American dream catcher.

I'll look forward to reading or re-reading your nominated MEFA stories.

I have to tighten up or edit everything except Life After, it's my year for editing things, it seems *g*.

Yes, it's a dream catcher. I fell in love with it as soon as she showed it to me, it's somehow so completely elven. The full picture shows the branch below as well but she had to crop and stretch it so she could add the text.

Gorgeous banner. Good for Red. NaNo again, eh? I should try it. I just hate that kind of pressure to produce words, because so often I find myself writing crap. Good luck on the Big Bang.

I will miss reading your story but it will mean I can send my story to you knowing that you will not be the recipient :D

I still owe you an email - now life is not so hectic I have no excuse lol

No, that was more about desperation than love, LOL. Though I was impressed at how brave he was - I would not dare touch his hair.

I'll be using the banner for Burning Bright, yes. As soon as I saw it, I knew. Just waiting for Red to have time to fix the text.

You know how I feel about the editing process that follows NaNo, though I suspect if I'd got straight to it, it might not have been anywhere near as painful. What it does though is duct tape your internal editor so the story can come through unhindered and in that respect, it's valuable.

Of course, Write or Die has a similar effect *g*.

I have owed Uli an email for --- very long. Life just goes that way sometimes. When you have time, no rush :) I know you're there and I know you're busy.

I would be hurt if I did not have your swap story to edit :D It's part of the whole swap process!
