Question - Was the island of Balar destroyed during the War of Wrath? If not, what happened to it? Depending where I read it was either wiped out along with most of Beleriand or else it remained a refuge during the war. The second would suit my purposes, but doesn't explain what happened to it afterwards. Either I haven't yet found the right passage in HoME or Tolkien didn't go into detail - again. Whichever it is, it's too hot here to keep searching. Can anyone help?
