Well that was a novel way to spend the morning. R and I had late breakfast in front of the tv and watched the wedding and had fun trying to recognise people. He's like the LAST person I thought would watch --- goes to show, never assume :|

It was shorter than I thought it'd be --- that's because it was a royal wedding, not a state occasion, I suppose. Kate's dress --- quite elegant and simple, good lace work, but really rather less than a princess dress. Suited her, but nothing out of the ordinary. William is starting to look rather like his grandfather, or is it just me? And that hair is going fast. Harry looked great ---- I've had a soft spot for Harry since Diana's funeral, when he held his father's hand while they followed her coffin. (He'd be a great catch.) Camilla always seems like she threw it all together on the day, LOL. I kinda like Camilla. There's no fuss, and for all the messiness, she and Charles are a genuine love story. The Queen wore yellow, I was convinced she'd wear blue. She's starting to look old - Prince Phillip on the other hand seems to have stopped time *g*.

And there were lots and lots of men in uniform on horseback ---- oh yes, I can always watch that!

It's lovely to have a share in someone else's magic for a few hours, makes the world a warmer, shinier place somehow. I might avoid the news tonight, keep the mood alive a while longer. Was a good morning.

ETA - have the radio on, someone just read out the menu for the reception. I could eat like that, ohhhh yes!

It would have been middle of the night if I'd watched it live, so no. Besides, I really haven't followed anything on this, and had zero intentions of even watching, but .... I did watch the after-coverage about an hour ago and it was lovely. Much sweeter than I would have expected and they look happy.

Thank God. :) They deserve happiness and I hope they find it.

Both looked calm and happy and that makes me smile too.

The cat woke me at 3:30 AM here in Texas, and I stayed up to watch. I am so glad I did!

One could not have had a better seat in the abbey than I had in front of the TV. First time I have ever seen the queen so pleased and happy. The wedding ceremony was lovely, and the looks between William and Kate were so sweet. With the close-up camera coverage, one could clearly see the emotions flitting across the faces of all those shown. Camilla's eyes were filled with tears, Harry proud, then wistful, William nervously biting his lip and clenching his jaw as he headed to the altar, the nervousness of William as he repeated his vows. He seemed light-headed, batting his eyes as he spoke. He had actually commented earlier that if anyone fainted in the church, it would probably be him!

It was obvious that Kate (and William at times too) was struggling not to smile broadly in the abbey as she stood at the alter, supressing it, trying to give just a small smile and tightening her lips. It was the only time she seemed to struggle. Otherwise, she seemed serene and calm.

Very lovely day without a hitch!

They've known each other for almost a decade, so if they're not sure by now they never will be :D They look as though they make a good team, and you can't ask for more than that. I hope the world is kind to them.

Your point about having the best seat is well taken *g*. I'm not very tall, and with my luck I'd have been stuck behind someone wearing a really enormous hat.

What I liked most was the sense of it being a family wedding, not a cold, formal event. Aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, step parent, grandparents... it really felt quite personal and intimate, didn't it? I thought everyone seemed happy, relaxed and really close - it was quite, quite lovely. I hope everything goes well for them, they deserve it!

Me too. I forgot to add that they had known each other so long, and it felt like a wedding not a ceremony. You know, you watch the film on Diana's wedding and it's so full of pomp and glamour that ....well, this one came off much more real, I loved the touches they made of writing a note to their guests on the programs, and just the simplicity of it. Not usual for royal weddings!

I don't want to be cynical about it, not at all. I loved seeing how much of a family they seemed, that the queen seemed content and I dunno. Call it pie in the sky, but I think they're happy. It gives me hope when I see that.

Charles and Diana's wedding was a state occasion with no warmth, I think it suited the fact that it was really an arranged marriage, not a love match. You could totally feel the difference here - it felt like a proper wedding, a commitment made before family and God (and about two billion tv viewers, but that's beside the point *g*) Big abbey, open carriages and all, t felt very personal.

Wills leaned over and said something to Kate and made her and her father laugh - someone lip read it and said that he told her that "We were supposed to have just a small family affair."

I think a marriage that starts with humour and good will has a special blessing on it.

David and Victoria were one of the best looking couples there too. :) He looked great.

Love that R watched it - LOL!!!

R said David looked messy, didn't like his tie. That came from a man who likes shorts and a t shirt best, so take it from whence it comes :D

What I liked most was that it was so clearly a family wedding that the rest of the world just happened to be watching. There were little jokes and people talking to each other and --- just really happy and comfortable all round.
